My Journey

Introduction

I’ll be incredibly honest… The last several years of my life have focused on self-reflection, not self-promotion. I don’t enjoy talking about myself, I dislike attention and photos, and I avoid social media.

But I believe that a level of vulnerability is necessary in order to live authentically. Life takes us on unexpected paths, and I’ve learned to enjoy the journey.

I want you, as my prospective clients, to have a sense of who I am as a person and the experiences that have brought me to this stage in my career.

The Law Office of Laken Lynch

I graduated from law school in 2018, completed a year-long judicial clerkship, and opened a law practice in the fall of 2019. At the time, the idea of creating a virtual, low-overhead law firm model was still innovative (and a bit controversial) in the legal industry.

However, I realized that technology was making it easier than ever for young attorneys to start their own businesses and revolutionizing the ways that I could help my clients.

Unlike traditional law firms, I was able to offer affordable flat fee services and reduced hourly rates due to this ultra-lean business model. By the end of 2019, I had the infrastructure to run my business entirely remotely and as many cases as I could handle on my own.

And Then Came 2020

I was seven months pregnant when Pennsylvania shut down, and the world as we knew it changed. By the time that I gave birth in May of 2020, childcare was not an option. I scaled back my practice so that I could work part-time, but still had all of the responsibilities of caring for a newborn while working from home.

It had been my lifelong dream to go to law school and serve as an advocate for children. Once I had a child of my own, my priorities shifted dramatically. When I realized that practicing family law was negatively impacting my physical health and well-being, I decided to stop taking new cases and completely reconfigured my life so that I could focus on my son.

I sold my small house in October of 2021 and used the proceeds to support us through the next two years. We traveled, spent time with family, and grew.

New Opportunities

And so began the next chapter of trying to find balance and joy.

Working in low-stress environments allowed me to focus on things that I was passionate about. I started writing and painting. I reignited my genuine love of learning, spent time immersed in nature, and sparked untapped creativity.

Between 2021 and 2024, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of businesses, while providing advice to other professionals and entrepreneurs.

I realized how much I enjoyed advising and business consulting, and finally recognized that I have a peculiar knack for systematic AND creative problem-solving.

The Current Chapter

In my most recent role with a large medical cannabis company, I was consistently able to identify small institutional changes that helped optimize efficiency, mitigate risk, and improve productivity.

I am the type of person who enjoys understanding processes, solving puzzles, and sharing fresh perspectives.

Relentlessly inquisitive and equipped with a well-rounded understanding of civil law, I have a strength-based approach that allows me to recommend tangible next steps that are specifically tailored to my clients’ unique needs and goals.

I am also more than a little queer.
